Computers. Love 'em or loathe 'em, they're pretty much everywhere these days. My generation grew up with 8-bits and typing some games in by hand, now we're looking at 64 bit monsters and CD-ROMs. All in the space of about a decade. Here's a thought for you. As the Internet grows, so does the amount of information it possesses. If it continues to grow, then providing things are added faster than things are discovered, the Internet will eventually hold the sum of human knowledge. In time, the Net might eventually have an infinite amount of data to draw upon. If the Net then somehow became self aware, and drew upon this vast pool of knowledge, would it not become some sort of God, if Supreme Beings are infinitely wise? Wouldn't it therefore have the same intelligence such beings are rumoured to possess, having infinite knowledge at its fingertips? But perhaps being infinitely wise and being infinitely intelligent are not the same thing... or are they?

Anyway, back to reality. Having, remarkably, managed to sell my Amiga 1200, software and all and gotten a few hundred quid for it, and having worked this past Summer, I now own a somewhat unbranded Pentium 166, HX motherboard, 512k Pipeline Burst Cache, 32 MB EDO RAM, 2.5GB Quantum HDD, 6 speed Creative CD-ROM (!), 2 MB VRAM Diamond Stealth Card, Sound Blaster 32 PnP, Primax Colour Hand Scanner, Canon BJ-200ex (Amiga hangover), Samsung Syncmaster Gli 15 inch monitor, external Zip drive, Sidewinder Pro joystick and adequate keyboard. Oh, and a mouse ;-) Whilst I've had a few teething problems, such as CD-ROM fighting sound card for system access DESPITE all IRQs being fine, the system seems to be pretty decent (well, as decent as anything can be with Windows 95 running it...!) So, having now joined the 'mainstream' of computer owners I start to experience the joys of the registry, plug and play when the peripherals you have aren't plug and play, and so the list goes on. Ho hum. Anyway, good luck with your PC. If you've had problems with yours feel free to ask me; while I'm no expert, I may have encountered the same thing and solved it, so...
